W, L or fair: how to judge a Roblox trade

How to tell if a trade is a win, a loss or fair, using value, demand and trend instead of gut feeling.

Updated October 13, 2026

Traders call a trade a W (win) when they get more value than they give, an L (loss) when they get less, and fair when both sides are about equal. These aren't official terms. They come from the trading community, and they only mean something if you measure both sides the same way.

Step 1: add up the value on both sides

Look up every item on both sides in the same value list and add them up. Our trade calculators do this for you and call a trade fair when the two sides are within 5% of each other.

Use one list for both sides. Mixing numbers from different value lists makes the comparison meaningless, because each list has its own scale.

Step 2: check demand, not just value

Value tells you what an item is worth on paper. Demand tells you how easy it is to trade it away again. On our lists demand runs from 1 to 10; items without enough data show a dash.

  • A high-demand item is easy to trade on, so many traders accept a slightly lower value for it.
  • A low-demand item can sit in your inventory for weeks, even if its value is high.
  • Taking several low-demand items for one high-demand item is often a quiet L, even when the totals match.

Step 3: look at the trend

An item marked as rising is gaining value, and one marked as falling is losing it. A fair trade today can turn into a W or an L next week, so a trend is worth a second look before you accept something big.

Step 4: watch for ranges and unsettled items

When value lists disagree a lot about an item, we show a range instead of one number. Items marked Unsettled don't have a reliable value yet, so we leave them out of the calculators. Be extra careful trading those: ask several people what they'd offer.

What "overpay" means

Overpaying means adding extra value to get an item you really want, usually a high-demand one. It's normal in trading. Just know that you're doing it, and how much extra you're adding.

Values are a guide, not a rule

Trading values are made by the community, not by Roblox or the game developers. Two traders can honestly disagree about a trade. Use values to avoid big mistakes, not to argue over every small difference. Before your next trade, also read our trading safety guide.
